First, it’s essential to define your goals: increasing traffic, generating more leads, boosting sales, or something else. Then, you need to use the Keyword Planner tool to perform a market competitiveness and keyword analysis, taking your goals into account—not all keywords are suitable for all objectives. After selecting the most appropriate keywords, you can see how many impressions they generate on average per month, their CPC (cost per click), and use this information to calculate a preliminary advertising budget.

Search ads, are displayed as text ads above or below the organic search results when a user enters a keyword into Google.

Display ads – are static or dynamic banners shown on websites within the Google Display Network, YouTube, and mobile applications.

Video ads, are shown while viewing video content on YouTube or as part of the video feed, either before, during, or after the video, and can be skippable or non-skippable.

Shopping Ads are displayed in the Google Shopping tab, typically above all Google search results. This type is most suitable for online stores, as the ad showcases the product’s image, title, price, and description. In Lithuania, this type of advertising is not functional, making it more relevant for those looking to advertise abroad.

App Ads – are designed to promote the installation of mobile applications and can be displayed in search results, on YouTube, Google Play, and the Google Display Network.

Local Ads – appear as a result in Google Maps, and the physical location of the business is made more prominent on the map.

First, it’s important to establish key KPIs, such as Conversion Rate, Cost per Conversion, CTR, ROAS, etc. To gather detailed data on user behavior on the website, configuring server-side data tracking and integrating with GA4 is essential. 

Additionally, it’s crucial to perform A/B testing on different ad versions and visuals to determine what works best, optimize keywords, and remove irrelevant queries from campaigns. By tracking key KPIs and monitoring results in Google Ads and GA4, you can evaluate the effectiveness of your ads. For instance, if the Conversion Rate of one ad or keyword is significantly lower than another within the same ad group, it may be worth considering turning it off.

A/B testing (also known as split testing) is a method used to compare two versions of a specific element in an advertising campaign to determine which performs better based on predefined metrics.

Keywords are words or phrases that users enter into search engines to find information, products, or services. To determine which words and phrases are most commonly used by your target audience, a keyword analysis should be performed. Tools like Keyword Planner, Google Trends, or SEO platforms such as Ahrefs or SEMrush can help with this.  

It’s important to choose keywords that have sufficient search volume but aren’t too competitive. High-competition keywords can be more expensive, so finding a balance is crucial. ‘Long-tail’ keywords are longer and more specific phrases that generally have lower competition and higher conversion rates. For example, instead of the general keyword ‘shoes,’ you might use ‘women’s cushioned running shoes.’ In campaigns, keywords should be grouped by topics or product categories. This helps in creating more effective ads and selecting landing pages that match the user’s search intent.
